Neugersdorf, Germany, April 15, 2019. Only recently incorporated into the OKA product range and already awarded one of the world’s most prestigious design prizes – the Red Dot Award: Product Design.
Thanks to the new modular
OKA SpaceLine acoustic partition system, mainly used for open office landscapes, the OKA product management team under Mr. Jan Noack succeeded in impressing the 40-member jury and bringing the coveted award in the “Office Furniture and Office Chairs” category to OKA Büromöbel in Lausitz.
OKA SpaceLine fulfills all visual screening and spatial zoning requirements with the highest possible acoustic effectiveness, and is available in various heights, widths, shapes and foot variants. Based on a slim frame profile,
OKA SpaceLine uses seamless upholstery technology with piping that completely covers the frame. An innovative feature is the angled arrangement of the groove, even concealing the piping. Without visible profiles and seams, homely fabric-covered surfaces define the system’s design.
All modules have a circumferential functional gap, which lies between the upholstered surfaces and can only be seen from the outside as a shadow gap. Connectors, glass inserts and accessories such as coat hooks can be attached very easily along this gap. The wall elements can be connected quickly without any tools thanks to the specially developed click connectors.
The completely redesigned frame corner is the core visual and functional element. It combines frame connection and fabric fastening in one part and simultaneously allows slot nuts to be inserted. Its aluminum cover cap sets the design accent.
With its innovative multilayer structure,
OKA SpaceLine achieves sound absorption class A (DIN EN ISO 354) – and that with a thickness of only 40 mm.
About the Red Dot Design Award
To professionally evaluate diversity within the design field, the Red Dot Design Award is divided into three disciplines: “Product Design”, “Brands & Communication” and “Design Concept”. Today, the Red Dot Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions, after a jury first met in 1955 to evaluate the best designs of the time. The brand and the name “Red Dot” were developed in the 1990s by Professor Dr. Peter Zec, who is still the company’s CEO. Since then, the coveted “Red Dot” award has been a seal of excellent design quality that is highly respected on an international level.

The Red Dot Award awards ceremony: Product Design 2019 will take place on 8 July in Essen, Germany. Afterwards, OKA SpaceLine will be showcased for one year in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, in the Red Dot Design Yearbook 2019/2020 and online. Further information is available at
